This is the bottom of the entrance ladder in Priest Grotto, installed by the
 cavers that reopened the cave in the 1970's to keep mud  from closing the
 entrance. It is the only place in the cave that you  can see any light from the
 outside.  At the base of the ladder  organic material has fallen in from the
 surface and a very few  mushrooms were growing at the very last rung of the
 ladder.  It is  also the only place in the cave with outside air circulating.
